We want verbmelo.com to work for every visitor, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard or a magnifier. This statement explains what verbmelo has done, which gaps remain and how to report a barrier.

Our commitment

Accessibility is treated as part of building and maintaining this website, not as a separate project. Whenever a page is added or the design is changed, we check that the content can still be read with a screen reader, operated with a keyboard and enlarged in the browser. This statement covers the pages published under verbmelo.com.

Limitations we know of

Some pictures are general illustrations with a short alternative text rather than a full description.

Measures taken

Pages are built with semantic HTML: headings follow a single order, lists are marked as lists and links say where they lead. Navigation and content form separate regions, the language of each page is declared, and informative images have alternative texts while decorative ones are marked as such.

Colours are selected so that body text, links and buttons maintain a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 against their background. Font sizes are expressed in relative units, so that text can be enlarged in the browser without content being cut off. Links, menus and form fields can be operated using the keyboard alone.

Reporting a barrier

If you come across a barrier on this website, or cannot find information you need, please tell us by email at [email protected] or by telephone on 01962 840317. It helps to name the page, describe what happened and mention the browser or assistive technology you used; we aim to answer within five working days.

Conformance

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. The site is currently partially conformant: most content meets the guidelines, while the points listed below do not yet. Where a requirement cannot be met right away, we provide the information in another way.

Information in another form

This website is not the only way of obtaining information from verbmelo. You can telephone us on 01962 840317 during normal business hours, write to [email protected] or send a letter to 14 Parchment Street, Winchester SO23 8AT. Where a page is not accessible to you, we will read the information out by telephone or supply it in plain text form.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 19 October 2026 on the basis of our own review. We checked the main page types with a keyboard, with increased zoom and with a screen reader; no external audit was commissioned. The statement is reviewed once a year and after any major change to the website.
